Visiting Family in Fukuoka

(Eating dinner with the family in Saga. The sushi was awesome in Saga! The neat thing was that although it looks like we're sitting on the floor, there is actually a hole underneath the tables so that you can hang your legs underneath, as though you're sitting at a "normal" table. It made sitting and eating very comfortable!)

From Okinawa we moved onto Fukuoka and stayed there from the night of 22 December 2007 to the morning of 26 December 2007. While we were there we went to Saga, about a 30 minute train ride from Fukuoka, to visit my Mom's Aunt and her family. I had never met these folks before. We went to pay respects to my mom's mom's father, and then to my mom's uncle (mom's mom's sister's husband) who died about 5 years ago. They were very nice, and were very welcoming.

(Marie and I on the train on the way from Fukuoka to Saga)

(Mom with her cousins Naomi and Kazumi. Mom hadn't seen either of them in at least 30 years! It was a very nice reunion, and it was great being able to meet them )

(My mom's cousin's dad's grave site. It was very interesting to see the various cemetaries and stones in Japan. They varied from Okinawa to Tokyo. Just an observation)
