Wasssssaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhbi
While Marie and I were in Japan, Auntie and Obaachan took us to Matsumoto, about a 3 hour drive from Tokyo. Matsumoto is known for their scenary, their castle, and their wasabi. We were able to see how well the wasabi crops were taken care of. I guess the wasabi plant is one of the most painfully tedious plants to take care of. The water has to be super clean, and it can't be too cold or too hot or too sunny or too rainy. It is a pain in the butt. There are many wasabi fields in Matsumoto, and we went to one of the bigger ones. These farms were beautiful. The green of the wasabi against the snow covered white banks of the crystal clear river was beautiful!
We also visited Matsumoto castle, which is one of the mainly samurai-era warlord castles in japan. It was rebuilt in the 1800s, and we were allowed to climb inside. We had to take off our shoes and wear the house provided bunny-suit-style slippers. We made our way up and down the steep stairs of the castle, and saw the view from above. The grounds surrounding the castle was also very well maintained with a beautiful traditional japanese garden and lots of trees.
